How Many Outfits Should I Have for My Senior Photo Session?
A big part of preparing for your senior photo session is deciding what you want to wear. One of the questions that might crop up during this time is how many outfits you should choose.
Before we answer this, keep in mind that if you have only booked a mini session, you will probably only have time for one outfit, so choose carefully.
However, if your session is 2 – 3 hours or more, you have the option to plan more than one outfit.
To avoid feeling overwhelmed, it’s recommended that you don’t select more than 5 outfits for your senior session. This will give you about 1 outfit per 30 minutes.
If you really can’t narrow your outfits down to just 5 or less, ask your photographer for some assistance before or on the day. They can easily tell you which outfits will produce the best photos based on your location as well as your vision for your shoot.
You should also keep these elements in mind when selecting your outfits – it will make the process a lot easier.
Tips for Finding Inspiration
Don’t be scared to think outside the box when picking your outfits. You don’t need to go out and buy something new either. Look at what’s already in your cupboard or head to a local thrift store to find a few unique pieces that won’t cost a fortune. In fact, you can even go through your parents’ or grandparents’ closets to find something truly one-of-a-kind.
Another idea is to draw inspiration from the books, movies, or music you love. Recently saw an outfit in a music video that you adore? Find a way to replicate it in a way that works for you.
Lastly, don’t stray away from props – they don’t need to be corny. Imagine having a 50s theme for your senior session and using a milkshake as a prop? There are no rules about what your props should or shouldn’t be.
Feeling inspired? Time to let your true style shine through!
