6 Tips on What to Wear for Your Senior Shoot That You Didn’t Know You Needed
What you wear to your senior photo session matters. If you think it doesn’t require any planning, think again.
You want to look back on these photos and not hate what you’re wearing. While your outfit should speak to your unique style, it should also be timeless.
Here are a couple of tips you may not have read online just yet.
- Graphics should make sense in 10 years. While shirts with graphics and logos are not recommended, if you do want to wear one, make sure that the graphic will still make sense if someone had to see the photo in 10 – 20 years.
- Pick your outfit colors based on your location. The setting of your senior photo shoot and the colors you choose to wear should be complementary. For example, wearing a bright red dress for a garden shoot with lots of greenery could turn your shoot into a Christmas-themed session.
- Move around in your outfit. By now you know that your outfit should be comfortable if you want to feel confident during your shoot. However, if you haven’t already, make a point of moving around in your outfit too. Sit, stand, and move your body to make sure it’s comfortable in any pose.
- If you aren’t sure, pick 3. If you can’t decide on just one theme for your senior photos, bring along more than one outfit. One should be dressy, one should be semi-formal, and the final outfit should be completely casual. Just make sure that the location you choose works with all of these outfits.
- Transition lenses can be tricky. If you wear glasses with transition lenses, you should know that these can be difficult to shoot. If possible, remove the lenses before your session. If this is not an option, you can always put your glasses on just before the photo is taken so that your photographer can capture your eyes.
- Pick your underwear carefully too. This tip applies to both guys and girls. Your underwear shouldn’t be showing above your pants or through your dress. It’s also best if bra straps are well hidden.
With all the basic outfit tips plus these extras, you should now have all the information you need to know exactly what you want to wear for your senior session.
