5 Ways to Choose a More Meaningful Location for Your Senior Photo Session
There are a couple of things you’re going to need to organize as you plan your senior photo session, your location being one of them.
In fact, your location is one of the most important factors during the planning process because it sets the tone for your shoot.
Taking the time to choose a more meaningful location will make your time with your photographer more enjoyable and your photos more memorable.
Here are a few questions you can ask yourself to pick a location that’s right for you.
- Where do you like to spend time when you have a stressful day? The places you go to unwind are ideal for a photo session because you’ll be feeling relaxed and most like yourself. If this means you need to take your senior portraits in a reading nook at home, perfect!
- Do you enjoy the outdoors? How often do you find yourself spending time outside? This will help you determine whether an outdoor location would be right for your photo session. Just because you see a lot of people shooting in outdoor locations doesn’t mean it’s right for your senior portraits.
- What are your hobbies? Perhaps you’re known for your sporting abilities or your musical talents? Maybe you like to paint over the weekends? Your hobbies can help you decide on a location that showcases your passions and the things that make you unique.
- Where would you take someone from out of town? If you had a friend or family member visiting your town or city for the first time, where would you take them? What areas in your city are eye-catching and memorable that you simply love? This could make for the ideal location.
- Where do you love taking photos? If you generally take a lot of photos of yourself or your surroundings, go through your camera roll to pick up on the spots you take the most pictures of or at. These are the locations that you obviously feel more comfortable in, making them perfect locations for your senior portraits.
And if you still can’t settle on a location, ask your photographer for more ideas.
