How to Get Picture-Perfect Nails for Your Senior Photo Session
They may be one of the smaller details, but your nails will be noticeable in your senior portraits.
To help you get nails that look good and even stand out in your photos, here are some tips to follow:
- Quit chewing. Your senior year is stressful, so nail-biting is understandable, but there are ways to kick the habit. Nail-biting is usually linked to stress, so be mindful of what triggers you. When you feel anxious, play with a stress toy, take a short walk, or breathe deeply. You could also apply stick-on nails for a week or two to stop yourself from biting your real nails.
- Take some time out to paint them. Even if your schedule is super busy, there’s no reason to show up for your shoot with chipped nail polish. If you don’t have time to repaint them, at least remove the chipped polish before your session.
- Moisturize daily. Make a point of keeping a small bottle of moisturizer on hand in the week leading up to your session so that you can keep your hands soft and supple for your shoot.
- Think twice about the color. If you are planning to have your nails done by a professional, give your nail polish color some proper thought. You want your senior portraits to remain as timeless as possible. A loud and trendy design might not be something you’ll want to look back on 10 or more years from now, so rather opt for a more neutral color.
- It’s not just about your hands. If you will be shooting your senior portraits during the warmer months, don’t forget to schedule a pedicure too. Or at least paint your toenails at home so that they look good in your photos.
Keeping your nails tidy and looking good will make a difference to your senior photos. You could even add a few subtle accessories to your hands too if you want to draw attention to your beautiful nails.
