9 Props You Should Consider Bringing to Your Senior Photoshoot
You’ve picked an outfit, settled on a location, and you have someone to do your hair on the day of your shoot – what about props?
You don’t have to bring props to your senior photoshoot, but they can add some interest to a few of your photos and help tell your unique story.
If you’re only just thinking about props, here are a few ideas to get you thinking.
- Academic material. Books and other academic materials are simple but effective props considering this will be a senior photo session, but even more so if you’ve been a star student throughout your school career.
- Sports equipment. If sport has been important to you during your schooling years, bring along a sports jersey or even some of your equipment to use as props during your shoot.
- Your furry friend. Not crazy about the idea of using inanimate objects as props? You can always add your pet to a few of your photos instead. Just make sure that you choose an appropriate location – home might be best.
- Something sentimental. Unfortunately, not all the people we love can be with us during this important time, which is why you may want to incorporate a family heirloom into some of your photos. It will make your senior photos even more special.
- Musical instruments. If music is your thing and you play an instrument, this would make for the ideal prop for a senior photoshoot.
- Balloons and confetti. You can also choose to keep things simple and celebratory by getting some special balloons and colorful confetti for your session.
- A car. Perhaps you just got the car you will be taking to college, or you love vintage or muscle cars – this might be a much bigger prop – but a car can give your senior photos a fun and unique spin.
- Personalized signs. Announce your graduation by creating a personalized sign for your session. You could even announce your university or college and share the photo online.
- Luggage. And finally, if you are planning to head out into the world and travel a bit after school, a suitcase makes for a beautiful prop.
A prop can be anything you want it to be. As long as it makes logical sense and it helps tell your story, your senior photographer can work it into your photos.
